Lil B Interview

Lil B. what’s up man?

How are you feeling today?

Pretty good, just working nothing too crazy. How about yourself? How’s your day?

All is well, the sun’s out you know what I’m saying? Getting a little breeze and you know, just soaking up life man, I love it.

What were some of the best times you had making music?

I think some of the best times  I’m living in currently, Just being able to wake up to be able to breathe, to participate in living and being conscious, you know? Maneuvering in this life, that’s like the best time making music. It really is rght now because I’m really starting to be able to explain how I feel and getting better at that.

And I think that’s the main point for me is bringing people close to how I feel and giving them an experience. You know what I mean?

What were some of your first way to be creative as a kid?

Maybe like drawing in coloring books, or writing poetry, performing in front of the whole school or something like that. This was like early on probably like elementary school, something like that. Always trying different stuff.

You had a poetry slam in elementary school?

I think this was just like a poetry slam, some type of thing for the kids to have fun. The teacher helped us formulate our poems. I think mine was about like a lizard or something like that. You know what I mean?

Did you always enjoy writing poetry?

I think I was always doing something with paper. You know, writing, drawing, or, transferring thoughts to the paper or transferring thoughts using a pen or pencil as a medium. that’s kind of where I come down with it. Yeah.

Do you have a childhood memory that you remember kind of had a profound impact on you? The childhood memory is me realizing that my dreams and goals are real, nothing really specific, but more like a marathon realization? I look through the stretch of my life as if it was like a race. Racing against myself and seeing the long term. Looking at it from the top view, I can then say like, it’s a gradual increase going up.

What do you think is the thing that is most misunderstood about you?

There’s so many opinions, I can’t call it you know. It’s case by case basis. I think more or less, it’s just my job to bring people closer to me via the music which will kind of solve these questions, the questions will be solved through the music. I gotta bring people close.

How has making music changed for you since you started compared to right now. The process, the feeling, the approach, what has changed?

Music is making more money these days. Music has changed his perspective on life for the better. The mindset, the scenery, all that has changed for the better. At the same time in the past, Music in the past took less, less was more at that time and now the flood gates are open, more available and it beautiful.

I just think music changed my whole life. Without music I wouldn’t be who I am today. I’m just a a person and spirit. So it’s like I give music everything. All the aspects of my life and all my love because music is the reason for everything.

What is one of the greatest lessons that music has taught you?

Love pays the bills

Do you remember the first time you ever made a song?

Memories kinda that go in and out. But I kind of remember recording like on my homie’s stereo system or something like that, recording with the cassette tapes off the office stereo

What’s the best part of your job?

Being able to connect with good people and connect with good energy. Learning about life, seeing the world. make this living experience a bit more positive for others, showing more optimism and helping as many people as you can while you’re doing it.

If you didn’t have music in your life, do you think you would find all of those things in another way?

I kinda don’t think so. I found my love, music is my love. I just want to help.

What’s the hardest part of your job?

The mental health aspect.

Does it take a toll on you?

I think just for anybody and everybody, mental health is the hardest part of any job. I’m looking at myself and blanket

What’s the best way you’ve found to keep your health intact?t

Take walks in nature, eating salads and natural fruits. Drinking water always brings me to a good place.

What was the last thing that got you upset and how did you deal with it?

Anger and hate is evil and there’s no toom for those types of emotions. All the room is for the love, we all have our times though. We all have our trying times. Putting our friendships to the test, our relationships.

What are your goals, what do you still want to accomplish in life that you haven’t already?

Really bring across my music in the highest level, highest quality, Giving all the people what I feel that we really need in music. really just continue to turn it up and work. That’s my goal really to make the best music of my life and to really leave a strong legacy here with the music. I feel like we all deserve that.

What do you like actively doing to try and get better yourself in music? What are some things you do to help push yourself?

Definitely collaborating and working with other folks. Learning and studying with them. Getting on my production hype, producing these beats and working with the BasedGod on the production. I like to extend my life and to help others because essentially it’s all about helping others. Trying to maneuver in this game, there’s this music industry, there’s music, business, and a life all at the same time. Just blessed to wake up everyday and get another chance at life,.

How do you spend most of your free time? What do you do outside of making music?

It’s really just meditation. Meditation and peace, silence, reflection, times of empathy, just, you know, that, that kinda encompasses what it’s like without the users, you know?

Totally like whatever you’re doing, it all revolves around peace and meditation.

I mean, that’s the goal. Especially not when your not making music, very important.

What’s one thing or some things that humans can do humans can do to make this planet a better place?

Love, not judge, don’t hate, don’t hate anyone. Don’t judge anyone, no matter what. Forgive love, ask and forgive people. Love them for who they are and not hate them for what they aren’t.

Move forward with love and peace and forgiveness,

Couldn’t agree more, you’re such a peaceful guy. You’re always preaching positivity and like and avoiding the negative, was there a moment in your life that helped push you to lifestyle? Was there like a distinct moment that kind of changed your life?

I think making mistakes as a teenager and the idea of growing from being a child to an adult. Going through these different experiences and learning as a young person, making mistakes and having not so easy times. Using those hard times in your youth to work for you in your later years. Make sure your later years in your life are more peaceful.

I just learned that I want to live with love, and live with respect. Have your a clear idea about who you are in your heart, knowing who you are and not trying to show off and be this person you’re not. Moving forward, if you want to be competitive, that’s fine. But just keep love first.

What does swag mean to you

Swag is everything, swag is the truth. That’s that Lil B, also shout out to Soulja Boy. Soulja definitely the first and the pioneer of that. Starting with him creating the term, “I Swag On”. Taking a swag to a whole nother level, and bringing the swag back, the swag was never gone, but like I said, we’re taking the swag to another level.

Does everyone think everyone has their own swag or are we all tapping into like a universal energy of swag?

Definitely got a universal energy. Everybody’s got their own vibe, but we definitely have universal energy of swag. We connected to the wifi. Believe that.

Who were some role models in your life that ended up being a very positive influence in your life?

A lot of people, more than I could remember, you know? One day I hope and pray that I can have some type of vision or a spiritual moment where I can actually reflect and go through all of my best memories. See memories that I’ve been wanting to see and uncover. That’s the goal at the end of the day. I can go into a process where I can go back and uncover all those memories from the mind.

But a person named Cricket, very positive influence.

How do you know them?

She’s just a very kind woman. Has helped a lot of people, a lot of families, she’s just a good person.

Is that someone you, you grew up around someone in your early days or later in life?

Someone I grew up around in my early days, shaping up. Grew up around her family over there. Shout out to Ari too, shout out to Kim, shout out a mayor, you know, shout out Nicole, shout out Nelly, shout out Nadia, shout out Diego, shout out Paris shot Trent, shout out Anthony, shout out Adam. A lot of good folks.\

So out of the thousands of songs that you made, um, what’s your favorite?

I feel like my favorite is a song called, Turn Up (Til You Can’t). That’s a song I made on my Black Ken mixtape, I produced it.I feel like that song embodies the love that I want to represent and brings the good vibes that I want to bring to the world.

I feel like from the production to the lyrics and the intention and the vibes and the love. There’s  just a lot of love that was put into that song. I want everybody to go check that one out. It’s definitely going to be a shocker, especially if you’re just relaxed and chilling. It’s going to wake you up with the love, it’s just gonna push you. Literally the love is going to shove you, just a light shove. You know when you’re walking with your back turned and someone shoved you from the back and you’re like, who the hell? It was love right there. That was the love shoving you.
