OMAR ELTAHAN INTERVIEW
What were some of your of your first creative outlets?
My first creative outlet as a kid was drawing and I was good and everyone liked my drawings, but I stopped practicing and didn’;t improve my skills so I lost my ability to do this anymore
When and how did you get your first camera?
I know this sounds crazy, but I don’t own a camera in my life, So I will direct my talk towards my mobile phone. 2018 was the year when I bought a phone that I can rely on its camera and I changed it last year, but still shooting on mobile phones.
What about photography drew you in and what about it kept you wanting to keep doing it?
Photography is very attractive to me and I found it an excellent alternative for my lost drawing skills as I have always been in love with visual arts in general. Photography as all other visual arts is a wide ocean in which you can create whatever you want and you can learn new skills, techniques and of course experience every day, this is what keeps me practicing, trying to show the world the beauty of simplest things.
What moments are you looking to capture in your photography?
I love all kinds of photography especially those make me feel something. I like nature…I like how it can make you feel different things… Foggy atmospheres and clear shiny weather are not the same. I like
to combine my photography with natural elements.
How often do you take spontaneous photos versus planning something out?
Previously, I used to plan more, but now I shoot more spontaneously.
What was the last photo that got away?
It was a photo I took of my little sister on our roof.
What’s the best memory you have with your camera?
When I wake up in the morning and see that it’s foggy, I get out really fast because I know what foggy atmosphere can add to your photo.
